Team No-one
When it comes to America’s best road trips, it’s hard to beat the Pacific Coast Highway. Driving Highway 1 means hours cruising along stunning bluffs overlooking the Pacific, plus designated vista points for sparkling ocean views, and, of course, the glamour of modern cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Although the Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge was destroyed, we still decided to continue our journey by going the other route. We are so happy and excited about this trip. Nothing can eliminate our enthusiasm.
Our trip begins in San Francisco, at the north of the state, then travels south to Monterey, the 17 miles drive, Carmel, Solvang, and Los Angeles, then south to more End in the ultimate “ City by the Bay,” San Diego.
On the first two days of our trip, the weather let us down. It had been raining so much that we almost thought we brought rain all the way from Seattle to California. So we went to see the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Lombard Street all in endless rain and dark. But the most important thing for us foodies is to have some really awesome food during the trip, and luckily we succeed and we are satisfied. The hotel we stayed in Monterey is called Monterey Tides, and it’s a very good hotel. It is literally by the sea, and you can walk out of your room and head to the beach directly if you booked the room on the first floor. Even more beautifully, you can fall asleep with the sound of sea wave. So romantic!
On the third day, we went to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, which is just near our hotel. The boys in our team were super excited to see such a much larger raceway than any ones in Seattle and they made a promise that they would come again for track days. After that, we headed to Solvang, and on the way, we went to Monterey’s Fisherman’s Wharf and the 17 miles drive. The weather was suddenly getting very nice, and we got lots of good shots of the beautiful views. After arriving at the Bixby Creek Bridge, we went back the same way and made a detour to avoid the Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge.
On the fourth day, on the way to Los Angeles from Solvang, we spent a lot of time playing at Zuma Beach. It is a very quiet and clean beach, there weren’t many people, and you can just relax and appreciate the charm of sunset on the beach. When we got Los Angeles, we spent our precious time on delicious food instead of scenic spots. We did not go to some places we planned to go, but we did get the food we planned to have (and even the food we didn’t plan to have, lol). When we arrived in San Diego on the sixth day, it was very late, and because we need to get to the airport on time on the last day, we didn’t have enough time for all the places we planned to go and only went to one place, the Victory Kiss, where we got our last group picture.
Although this trip is not perfect, and we missed some places we wanted to go, there is no pity in our hearts, because we had great food and great friends with us all the way, which cannot be missed in our lives.
