Two weeks ago, we here at Boro published an article revolving around the spring break exodus college students across the country will soon participate in (and offering a possible destination in the form of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico). Now Boro has selected another ideal vacation spot, one that's just a little closer to home.
It's known as the home of "The World's Most Beautiful Beaches", with 27 miles of sprawling white sand beaches that offer a majestic view of the Gulf of Mexico's turquoise waters. It's none other than…
PANAMA BEACH CITY, FLORIDA!
Located in the heart of the Florida Panhandle, this is one resort city you will never want to leave. Intrigued yet? Scroll down to learn more about what Panama Beach City (PCB for short) has to offer and maybe you'll consider spending your spring break here.
Similar to the Puerto Vallarta article, Boro will concentrate on four factors that play an integral part in PCB's tourism industry: sightseeing, recreation, nightlife and cuisine.
SIGHTSEEING
Looking for things to do during your short time in PCB? Look no further. You'll find everything from museums (Boro recommends Ripley's Believe It Or Not! and the Man In The Sea Museum) to menageries (ZooWorld Zoological and Botanical Conservatory is a definite must) and marine parks (Gulf World, another Boro recommendation, is perfect for those who have always dreamed of meeting and swimming with dolphins). Whether you visit one location or visit them all, you're bound to enjoy the experience.
RECREATION
In addition to hitting the myriad beaches dotting the PCB coastline, there are countless recreational opportunities to choose from. Boro's personal recommendations consist of the following locations: Camp Helen State Park (which includes such amenities as hiking, kayaking and wildlife viewing) and Shell Island, a 7-mile peninsula accessible only by boat where tourists go to lounge on the sand, search for sea turtles and take in unadulterated island nature).
NIGHTLIFE
The one thing bound to bring a fitting end to a day of sun and fun is a night on the town. Want to dance until dawn? Splash Bar Florida (an LGBT-friendly establishment) is the place for students to be seen, with a wide variety of delicious drink specials and shows that immerse you before you have a chance to sit down. Looking for something more casual? Visit Dusty's Oyster Bar for a quiet meal and a stunning ocean view. And of course, talking a nighttime stroll along the beach is never out of the question for students hoping to spend a quiet moment with that special someone.
CUISINE
No spring break experience is complete without a food experience. Stop by Dee's Hangout (boasting Cajun-inspired dishes that will make you feel like you're in the heart of the Louisiana Bayou) or book a table at the Saltwater Grill and dine on your choice of steak or fresh seafood (Boro recommends you ask your server for the Maine lobster, which is personally delivered from New England twice a week).
